a (white) summer: street style (Part 2)

what happens in Cannes …

it was white galore, it was dated Before Memorial Day and it was fabulous.

let’s see how can we simulate that fabulosity in a more down to earth life. not that we are supposed to buy wallet-offenders looks, it is just we can just use some stretch of imagination to replica the looks, silhouettes, textures.

whether in Swinging London Mod inspired mood or opting for technical fabrics or laser cut designs, remember simplicity (like this unexpected white dress from print queen Marni). In a season when colors are a rule, white must be kept pristine, sugar spun white only.

HOW TO ROCK IT.

To be catapulted into the impossibly cools add anything silver. Bejeweled flat sandals, minaudieres, punk-rock chains and safety pins. The top uber daring fashion driven piece to close a look will be a fur stole as profusely seen in Miu Miu (below) and Prada.

a (white) summer: Cannes style (Part 1)

Carey Mulligan impeccably white even under the rain.

long gone are the days when no white before Memorial Day or after Labor Day was the rule. still, white can get nasty if not used properly. the normal misconception is: in Miami is summer all year long, so white and linens are considered uniforms.

false.

no matter the climate, summer is summer and winter as well. linen in winter? nautical stripes in november? I need to bite my tongue and be polite by saying that if we were to create a fashion police squad down here we would make a lot of money with fines. by that I mean for charity.

Le Festival du Cinema in Cannes confirmed it: white is the new black in red carpet language. The ladies who Cannes mastered it. note to self: watch it close and get inspired if you want to keep it haute.
